Okay, found a fix for this in my install - lost connection due to network outage and then 2 indoor cameras would not connect, even replacements.... until I went screw this and disabled all firewalls on my router... and Bang, connected first time and then enabling settings one by one to find the cause - so if your SimpliSafe camera won't connect to wifi during setup....

If you have FibreNest router (similar for other routers) - go to router admin page and go to Security > Untick the following: (may be similar options on other routers), its basically disabling any firewall temporarily)

  1. IPv4 SIP firewall
  2. IPv6 SIP firewall
  3. Filter ident (port 113)
  4. Filter anonymous internet requests

Install the camera, then tick these again, EXCEPT for filter anonymous internet requests (this blocks anything from sending a 'ping' to your system to check a device is there, seems this is used to check for devices by SimpliSafe and the ping not being sent back blocks install and shows camera offline)

Edit: that worked for an hour, turns out to stay connected have to disable any SIP firewall that exists as well…. Seems simplisafe traffic causes this to trigger it blocking cameras. Have done that and ever since, stayed connected 👍

Hi @chris_long

Could you clarify for us what exactly happens with the 2 cameras that sort of work and the 3rd that won't at all?
We would have different troubleshooting steps depending where in the process of set up / usage the problem occurs, as well as which cameras are experiencing the issues.

You could check the following in the meantime:

A short list of requirements can be found below:

  • Your Wi-Fi network must be broadcasting 2.4GHz

    • SimpliSafe® cannot connect to 5GHz networks

  • Your SSID and password cannot exceed more than 31 characters each

  • Your network must be configured as WPA2 or WPA3/2 Mixed Mode

    • WPA3 only networks are not compatible with SimpliSafe® at this time
