Camera Not Connecting to wifi during set up?

If your camera is not connecting to wifi when setting up, here is something that may fix it. Or if your camera shows offline in the app, but when you connect to it, you can live stream?

The issue may be firmware updates being pushed out to routers, and Simplisafe have no idea why when ringing them - only by digging did I find out one possible solution.....

Many routers now will get firmware that block 'pings' being sent in to the router to check for devices. This is security protocol to prevent people sending a signal to check for a device on your network and then trying to gain access to it.  Because of this setting, SimpliSafe cannot send a ping to your camera to find it and check it's there.

You need to set your router to allow these 'pings', because simiplisafe send a signal to the camera or device to check its there, if it is its all okay, if it doesn't get a 'hi, I'm here' in reply, the app states its offline, and you cannot set the device up in your app, even new ones won't work.

In many routers this is in settings within security settings and may say something like 'Filter anonymous internet requests' or 'block ping requests' (each router is different) - disable this setting and try installing; if this works, you may need to leave this off which will allow anyone with network access to ping any of your devices, so leave firewalls etc in place and make sure your network is password protected. Sorry cannot give instructions for each router, so refer to manual or google router name and how to manage incoming ping settings on your router.

Edit: Turns out had to disable firewalls altogether that were using SIP....

Please note that disabling this setting does leave all devices on your network able to be pinged by anyone, so it's at your own risk, however this was the only way I could get the cameras online.
