How to Recycle SimpliSafe® Products

Updated

The EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires all Member EU countries to maximise the separate collection, reuse and recycling of WEEE. The UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (derived from the EU Directive) applies to all Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) placed on the market in the UK.

Under the UK WEEE Regulations, “Producers” are required to mark all relevant EEE with the “crossed-out wheelie bin” symbol to notify and remind consumers not to discard WEEE in the domestic waste stream with regular household waste and that EEE should be collected separately and recycled.

Simplisafe encourages all of its customers to make note of this symbol and avoid putting any WEEE in your domestic waste bin(s) or container(s).

The Importance of Proper Electronic Waste Disposal

Recycling should be easy, but when it comes time to dispose of electronics, it may be hard to know how to do it properly. We all need to do our part to reduce environmental harm and resource waste by ensuring that electronic waste is properly handled and recycled, rather than being mixed with general waste and ending up in landfills.

If not handled properly, hazardous substances in EEE can leach into soil and water, contaminating ecosystems and entering the food chain, posing risks to both environmental health and human well-being.

Recycling Your SimpliSafe Devices

When you need to discard any of your SimpliSafe® products, we recommend keeping it simple and bringing them to your local e-recycling facility. To find the nearest centre, visit the Recycle More website and type in your postcode.

Your local council may have specific rules and regulations regarding the disposal of e-waste, so you should always confirm with them the best way to handle your devices. By recycling your SimpliSafe® devices locally, maximising EEE recycling opportunities and resources and keeping these devices out of the unsorted municipal waste stream, we can all work together to increase the EEE collection levels for treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal, lessening our environmental impact.

Disposing of Lithium-Ion Batteries

When disposing of Lithium-Ion batteries, including button cell batteries, please locate an authorised recycling location to ensure safe disposal.
