Two-Way Audio Not Working for the Outdoor Security Camera Series 2
Updated
The Outdoor Security Camera Series 2 has two-way audio that allows you to speak through the camera with a simple tap of the speaker button. Holding down the Outdoor Camera speaker button will not allow two-way audio to work properly.
To test that two-way audio is working, you should stand far away from your Outdoor Camera Series 2 or in another room, while having someone stand near the camera. This will allow for the other individual to confirm that two-way audio is working and allow for you to test that the camera’s live stream is picking up their voice as well.
If you stand too close to the Outdoor Camera with your phone while trying to test two-way audio, it may mute any echo it hears caused by the looping sound between the camera and your phone speakers.
Common Troubleshooting Steps for Two-Way Audio Issues
Check Your Phone’s Volume
Ensure that the volume on your phone is turned up so that audio from the camera is passing through to the livestream.
Check Your Phone’s Settings
The SimpliSafe® Mobile App requires access to your phone’s microphone and speakers. If you declined this access when setting up the mobile app, you may need to manually enable these settings within your phones settings menu. Consult with your phone’s manual to adjust these settings and permissions.
Ensure that Mic & Audio Settings are Enabled
You can also check the SimpliSafe® Mobile App and confirm that the camera settings are configured correctly.
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet
Choose My System from the bottom navigation bar
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Outdoor Camera Series 2
Ensure that Mic & Audio is toggled to ON
Note, if you have Active Guard outdoor protection enabled, this setting will be toggled ON and be greyed out. You will not have the ability to toggle it off when using outdoor monitoring services.
Check the Outdoor Camera for Dust, Debris, or Water/Snow
Your Outdoor Camera is subject to the elements and occasionally may see dust or water build up on it. Remove the camera from the magnetic mount and gently shake it to remove any dust or water buildup.
