How do I Download a Certificate to get a Discount on my Homeowner’s Insurance Policy?

Overview

US customers with an active professional monitoring subscription (Pro Plus, Pro, Core, Standard) and a SimpliSafe® System may be eligible to receive a discount on their homeowner's insurance policy. Please reach out to your homeowner's insurance provider to determine eligibility.

If you are based in the US and meet the criteria above, you can download a monitoring certificate using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App or SimpliSafe® Online Account.

This PDF version of your monitoring certificate can be emailed to your insurance agent as an attachment, illustrating that you have professional monitoring at this property. The certificate shows the current date and the date on which the service was activated. In some cases, insurance agents will backdate discounts for your homeowner’s insurance policy to match the activation date of your monitoring plan, so be sure to inquire about that when sending your certificate!

Download a Certificate Using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App

To download your monitoring certificate using this method, you must be running the latest version of the SimpliSafe® App. You can check for updates by visiting the App Store on your device.

The easiest way to obtain a monitoring certificate is directly in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App. When using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, you’ll have the option to download the monitoring certificate to your phone/tablet, or have a copy emailed to you.

To download your monitoring certificate:

  1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet

  2. Choose My System from the bottom navigation bar

  3. Select Location Settings from the list of menu options

  4. Scroll down to Certificate

  5. Click on Monitoring Certificate

  6. A pop-up will appear asking how you want the certificate

    1. You can choose Email Certificate to send it to the primary account holder's email address

    2. You can choose Download Certificate to download it to your phone or tablet directly

Receiving an Error When Downloading From the SimpliSafe® App?

If you are encountering the error “Please Try Again” when attempting to download a certificate from within the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, there may be an underlying issue with the Base Station.

Ensure that your Base Station is connected to power, then repeat the steps above to download a certificate. If you still encounter issues with the mobile app, try our browser-based website and download a certificate to your computer using the steps below.

Download a Certificate Using the SimpliSafe® Online Account

To download your monitoring certificate:

  1. Login to your SimpliSafe® Online Account using the browser of your choice

    1. Select the property you wish to manage from the list, if applicable

  2. Navigate to the Monitoring section of your account from the left-hand navigation menu

  3. In the upper right portion of the screen, inside the blue bar that spans the width of the screen, click “download certificate” beneath the “Monitoring Certificate” header.

Is a Box Not Checked Off on Your Monitoring Certificate?

If you do not see a specific hazard monitoring type (burglary, panic, fire, water/freeze) checked off on your monitoring certificate and own a product that monitors for that hazard, it’s possible that the device was recently added and needs time to register. You can speed up this process by placing your system into Test Mode, and then testing the device in question. Once tested, go back to the SimpliSafe® Mobile App or SimpliSafe® Online Account and download a new copy of the monitoring certificate. You should now see the box checked for that specific type of hazard monitoring.
