A Box Isn't Checked Off On My Alarm System Monitoring Certificate
Updated
An Alarm System Monitoring Certificate is a way to provide your homeowner’s insurance (and other interested parties) proof of coverage for your SimpliSafe® System. In some cases, your homeowner’s insurance may provide you with a discounted policy for having Burglary, Fire, Panic, or Water/Freeze devices within your home.
If you own one of these devices but are not seeing the box checked off on your certificate, you’ll need to place your system into Test Mode and run through a few steps to get it to register.
Placing Your System Into Test Mode:
Using your Keypad, press the Menu button
Enter your Primary PIN
Use the arrows to scroll until Test Mode is highlighted
Select Test Mode
You will know you are in Test Mode when you see a circle appear on your screen with the text, "Test each device by pressing its button".
NOTE: If you have monitoring, you will also receive a robo call from the monitoring center asking you to confirm you placed your system into Test Mode. If you do not answer this call, no worries! A voicemail will be left for you notifying you of the system test.
Additionally, if a Smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide Detector, or Duress Alarm are triggered when your system is in Test Mode, the monitoring center will act as if it's an emergency.
Testing the Device
Next, you’ll need to test the device. You’ll only need to test a single device from the category below that is not checked off on your current Alarm System Monitoring Certificate. Doing this will get it to register as a timeline event, which in turn will populate the checkbox on the Alarm System Monitoring Certificate.
Once you have successfully tested the device, you’ll want to confirm that a timeline event has occurred.
Using the Web App:
Log in to the Web App using your computer or a tablet
Select Timeline from the left-hand navigation bar
If you do not see Timeline, you may need to click the three-bar menu to expand the navigation bar
Confirm that the device in question is listed on the timeline as “Test Signal Received”
Using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App:
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet
Choose Timeline from the bottom navigation bar
Confirm that the device in question is listed on the timeline as “Test Signal Received”
Download a New Alarm System Monitoring Certificate
Once you have confirmed the Test Signal was received by reviewing your timeline, you can exit Test Mode by using the arrows on your Keypad to select Exit.
After you have exited Test Mode, you’ll want to download a new Alarm System Monitoring Certificate from within the SimpliSafe® Web App using your computer or a tablet.
