Sensors on Secret Alert should return to default when Monitoring Plan is downgraded
I recently cancelled my monitoring service and noticed, many days after I did, that all the sensors I had set to Secret Alert were still listed as in Secret Alert mode. Obviously this meant that a) they didn't behave as they should in Secret Mode (as expected, since monitoring was cancelled) and b) they didn't trigger an alarm when triggered because they weren't set to Alarm.
This seems like a potential HUGE issue and one that should be simply fixed. I would suggest you AT LEAST notify users (pop up, email, redirect to app settings upon next app opening, etc.) that they need to make this change. Better yet, just switch it to Alarm by default since I think most people are going to repurpose those sensors to be used to trigger alarms. (I could be wrong, hence why my first suggestion was to notify people.)
I look forward to your response!

Hi Worthing,
Thanks for bringing this up. Right now, the feature is working as designed. It helps to know that Secret Alerts is technically two separate but related features:
Because Secret Alert notification is available only with certain Monitoring Plans, it would naturally be disabled when you downgrade. However, the first piece (a setting that is actually stored in the Base Station) would be unchanged.
It’s worth noting that there are use cases for Secret Alerts even when notifications are not available. For example, when troubleshooting false alarms, or if you do want a record of certain doors/windows/cabinets being accessed without needing to be alerted immediately about it.
But I will bring this up to our dev team. We should at least be clearer about what features change (and how) when downgrading the monitoring plan.
