As a security system, I would love to be able to livestream any camera, or multiple cameras, to a TV or monitor through a SimpliSafe app on AppleTV, Roku, etc. I work in my basement office and would like to have a screen with livestream of at least one camera, preferably multicast.
So, this is what I was thinking in terms of how this app on Roku or any other brand streaming device should work: you would have the option to enable a popup to PnP in the corner of your display, and if you select it, as you would for viewing details of an interactive Ad, the PnP goes full screen, automatically pausing whatever you are streaming, as long as it's not live TV.
Other security systems offer this type of feature, and the prime reason is to invest users into a feature-rich environment. The key thing for SimpliSafe would be to do it better. I can understand SimpliSafe being concerned about the security of such an app, but they could make it a passive, view-only feature with the addition of a remote deauthorization in case the streaming device was to get stolen or be removed from the home.
I'm not an app designer for a streaming device or a smartphone, but I was a programmer a hundred years ago (at least it feels that way) and think it is very possible to do while preserving safety and security.
Does anyone have an idea about who we could get to champion this idea?
