Option for the Base Station to chirp during alarm countdown
Hi,
I am generally Pleased with my SS system, but I do have a suggestion.
When a door is opened (or a motion sensor trips) the keypad beeps during the count down. That is all well and good, but I can't hear the keypad from my bedroom.
My base station is in my bedroom, and I would much prefer that the keypad AND the base station beep during the countdown.
As the system is designed now, If I'm asleep and I hear a bump in the night, I have know way of knowing if there was a break in until the siren sounds. I would feel much better if I knew that since the base station wasn't beeping, all was secure.
It's not an exaggeration that 30 seconds (the time of the count down) could be the difference between life or death.
For users that don't want the base station to beep, you could make that functionality an option.

Hey stevenkbone,
Right, the current design is intentional so that the Base Station does not make any sounds (or even show any lights) during the countdown. That buys the system time to get through the countdown and send the signal to Monitoring.
Currently, our two main solutions for the problem you describe would be:
That being said, having the option to have the Base Station also produce an audio prompt is absolutely not an unreasonable request. We'll be feeding that back to our dev team.

Your idea sounded similar to this product request, so I moved your post here. We have submitted this idea to our dev team for their consideration, but I'll bubble it back up to them.
In the meantime, we do offer the Extra Siren that sounds the system's Exit and Entry Delays, an alarm when the system is triggered, and chimes when an Entry Sensor is opened. You can learn more about this device here on our website.
