Frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) to for Base Station wireless interference
The current generation 3 SimpliSafe system is not resistant to jamming of the wireless signal between the sensors and the base station. It can only notify the user when the signal is being jammed or experiencing interference. I would like to suggest that the next generation SS system include some feature or features that may help to actually resist or prevent the wireless signal from being jammed. Once such option is FHSS or frequency hopping spread spectrum in which the wireless signal uses multiple radio frequencies and quickly jumps between them so that a burglar/attacker cannot easily lock onto and jam the signal. I believe this would also require each sensor to support this technology. Perhaps the new system can be backwards compatible with previous sensors, but still allow upgrades to the new sensors.
I'm of the opinion that as these wireless DIY home security systems become increasingly popular, so will the use of wireless jamming devices by burglars, even though they're highly illegal (but since when do criminals operate legally?). It would be great if SimpliSafe be a leader in staying one step ahead of the criminals and keeping residences as safe as possible.
