Alarm Zones (not just Home and Away)
Not sure if this has been suggested, but would be great to have the ability to choose different alarm profiles other than home and away from the app.
In my app, instead of selecting home, I would select a different alarm profiles that only arms a set of devices to trigger the alarm.
A use case would be that I have motion sensors in all rooms including my guest room, and my default setting for home is to trigger the alarm if motion is detected in all rooms. However, when I have guests staying over, I want the motion sensor in the guest room not to trigger the alarm. For this case I would choose a different alarm profile that doesn't arm the guest room sense to trigger the alarm.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but it would be great if we had the ability to set different alarm profiles via the app that arms specific devices per profile outside of Home & Away.
I.e; If I had guests staying over, I do not want my guest bedroom motion sensor, my guest bathroom sensor and door opening sensors to be triggered. Instead of having to go through and changing each device's setting, I would create a custom alarm profile that does not trigger the alarm on devices I've chosen.

I propose an optional advanced mode that would allow us to create additional custom arming modes. Within advanced mode, instant trigger status could be defined on a per arming mode, per device basis (as opposed to just globally for each device).
A few examples of why "Home" isn't quite specific enough:
The keypads obviously only have home and away buttons, but that could be mitigated a number of ways - one option would be to long press Home on the keypad (if you have advanced mode enabled), then just enter the number that correlates with the custom mode you've created (Home 1, Home 2, etc). Since this isn't the default interaction method, this shouldn't mess up any current users or change the way they need to do anything. Power users would be fine with putting in a little extra work to get a higher degree of control. The keypads could easily display additional status labels like "Home 2" or "Custom 2", so the change would mostly likely come down to altering the way device attributes are stored to enable more than 3 states (with instant trigger flags no longer being state global for any given device), adding additional supported responses to the internal API, and modifying the web app layout for device management to support more than 3 columns. Maybe you even cap it to 3 or 4 custom arming modes to prevent people from blowing up the web page layout or using too much memory.
I say this all as if it would be no big deal to just code it in an afternoon :) clearly it would be a major change and take some work, but I feel like there would be a significant payoff for power users, and it would be quite a market differentiator, especially when you think about the type of person that would be writing reviews of DIY security systems (i.e. security minded tinkerers / home automation buffs). Thoughts anyone?

Seems like this would be a great way for SS to differentiate from other alarm systems, and (I think) pretty easy to implement.

The first idea is to group specific devices to one control panel on one account. I have a duplex and my tenants have their own schedule and I don't want to interfere with their life but also protect my property. So having the ability to group specific devices for each unit would be amazing.
The second idea is setting arming times like between 1:00 AM and 6:30 AM so that I can sleep but also know that my property is protected when I'm incapacitated.

I understand the system is designed with HOME / AWAY / OFF modes, but thats not enough for some of us. Example:
- Home turns on all the door & window sensors, and we use it at night when we are sleeping.
- Away turn on all the sensors (Motion for example).
I want to spend time in the backyard, and have a multi story house and so would like to be able to create a "custom" backyard mode, where I can set all the sensors on (like home) but turn the backyard entry and possibly even the outdoor camera off (because it detects motion every 30 seconds I get a recording of me out there).
Its a pain to either keep the alarm OFF, but then I dont know whats happening at my other entry points that I have no view to, or I have to go in and turn motion detection off on the camera.
Seems like a simple feature to add (not to the pin pad, but just the phone) and would be amazing.

My Honeywell system lets me designate sensors for different zones, i.e. gun cabinet, vault, liquor cabinet. All that would be needed is for Simplisafe to add partitions that could be armed or disarmed or put in home mode independent of the main "location". Looks to me that this would be an easy thing for a programmer to do. It would make Simplisafe a far more user friendly system.
