Mobile App Cannot Find WiFi Network

I don’t believe this is fixed. I’m on 2.17 and I can get the base station to connect to WiFi and then I select check for updates and it has lost the connection. App also no longer connects WiFi. It can’t find it! After years of use it appears the system is now junk. If this is a firmware issue I can’t update to fix it. I have a useless system.

Hi @julian9f443b,

It seems like you may be experiencing a different issue from the thread that you originally commented in, so I converted your comment into its own post so we can continue to troubleshoot your system here.

How often have you noticed your Base Station disconnecting from your Wi-Fi network? Does this only happen when you search for system updates? It can help to move the Base Station about 5-10 feet away from the router to help it maintain a Wi-Fi connection.

We also recommend setting up a dedicated guest network locked at 2.4GHz and connect only your SimpliSafe devices to it.

And in the SimpliSafe mobile app, if you select No, Choose Other Networks and then manually type in your network’s name, is the Base Station able to find it?

Base station disconnected seconds after connecting not just as a result of checking for updates. May be worth pointing out that in 3 years the location of router (Asus), mesh extender (Asus), base station, handset and all devices hasn't changed so assumption is it's a software change in router and/or base station. Couldn't move base station further away as that would be behind a very thick wall (500yr old houses tend to have these!).

I enabled a 2.4GHz guest network and after much persuasion the app connected. It was convinced the old network should be chosen.

All seems to be OK but I cannot save the house details as the app seems to want a safe word that I'm sure I've not set as it's not any of the normal 'words' I use but that's a different issue (or is it????).

I'm on 2.16 etc. It takes multiple attempts, even with keypad and manually entering it says connected, but it isn't.

I told it to forget the WiFi and re-entered the data.

I'm not even sure what worked but I kept trying and it finallyyyy....connected.

I'm "attempting" to download of 2.17 right now. I'll report back what happens.

For mine, it also never reports anymore that wifi disconnected. For a long time.

Well, what used to happen is in the keypad I would check for update. It says ones available. May take 25 minutes to download.

After that, in keypad, the only choice is ok.

Click ok and it used to have a yellow light going around.

Now clicking ok and the light green light goes off and base says alarm off.

Tried on the app as since using keypad it says an update is available in the app also.

Gets 98% finished and fails ro update. Twice.

Base is still connected because I can aem it via the app.

Continuing to try to update and make my BP rise.πŸ˜πŸ™„

SMH. Patience and at least 4 tries. By the way, that mysterious green light comes on every time I enter my pin at the keypad.

Not that it matters to me. All in the eye of the beholder.

Finally after 4 or 5 app tries base updated, message received.

Looking in keypad says its at v 2.17. then in checking there it also says theres still an update available, clicked ok for the 5th time, it did something, circle going around. Then finished and cleared the update available.

No yellow blinking light that I think it used to do. Still have the light green blue one though upon pin entry in keypad. Stays on until pin entered again, then says OFF verbally.

I'd send a pic, but it actually looks blue in some of the Samsung pictures. Very Weird. Physically looking at it, it's a light green with a tiny bit of blue perhaps. To me and my old eyes.πŸ‘€πŸ₯±

I'm not color blind.

So maybe it's white. Lol.

What a fiasco to update.

Having said all this, it stayed connected at least. So far.
