Video doorbell camera not working properly
My video doorbell camera has issues when motion is detected - I get a notice that no video was recorded. Then when I click on the live video it is unable to connect.
I have been having these issues consistently with our video doorbell camera for months and have gone through all the suggested steps with SimpliSafe customer service to try and resolve the issue. It’s only resolved temporarily until the next time it occurs.
The security system base is maybe 3 feet away from the doorbell camera and the WiFi router is maybe 10 feet away. I am having zero issues with the other outdoor camera that is a good 20 feet away from both. I am displeased with the functioning of this service and am close to getting rid of it and just utilizing a ring door bell because this is getting ridiculous at this point.
Anyone having similar issues and have any suggestions?

Hi @alexandralovejoy96,
If you receive a No Video error message on your recordings, that indicates that the camera disconnected from its Wi-Fi connection. The first step we would want to take here is to use our in-app Connection Check tool. This will scan the Video Doorbell's connection to your network, and provide additional troubleshooting steps to improve its connection based off your results.
You can use this tool in the SimpliSafe mobile app by navigating to My System > Camera Settings > select [your Video Doorbell] > Connection Check > Start Connection Check.
We also have this guide in our Help Center to troubleshoot this error further. I would also recommend checking it out for some additional troubleshooting.

I must be lucky I have had my video doorbell for over 7 years and it finally kicked the bucket and after a chat with simplisafe and doing all the trouble shooting they said yep, it sounds like it finally died so a new one came in and a month later and still working like a champ and even better quality that the first. One of my favorite cameras out of plenty I have.

@lance843 The new improved wifi antenna model doorbells are a bit better. The originals were scrap for 1.5 years
All 7 of mine are actually quite useless.
Live view only they mostly get ignored.
They can't, won't or are incapable of hooking my two base stations onto one account for better RF to the 5 outdoor cams I split up.
Incapable of tracking them or something. Created my own RF extender, but it had that drawback. Only an idiot would pay twice for one service.
Need self with cameras recordings or they're useless to me.🤔

I'm also having the exact same issue. Whenever someone rings the doorbell or motion is detected, the live feed function fails to connect >90%. I've upgraded the router and we have a Simplisafe provided wifi extender immediately next to the front door. This is extremely frustrating and defeats the purpose of the security camera.

My original SimpliSafe doorbell camera that I've had for about 7 years was consistently unreliable. it's less than 10 feet from the keypad and base station. I finally got fed up and contacted SS through the chat and was sent a new doorbell/camera unit. When I was installing the new doorbell, I noted the model number is exactly the same as the old one. It went offline two days after installing. So today I'm replacing all of the wiring and doorbell transformer to eliminate any chance of some other interference causing the issues.
I just came here to relate that I'm surprised the two units, seven years apart have the same model number in a world of constantly updating technology.

Yes! Just spent about 8 minutes out front with my dogs and it should have recorded all of that motion. I’ve only had the system 3.5 days and the first 3 days were practice. 3 cameras and absolutely nothing was recorded for 8 hours while I was actually, “armed,” last night. Hard to believe that nothing moved in 8 hours. I KNOW even though I’m not armed now the doorbell camera should have picked up my outing with my dogs. I was told the system has data capability if the Wi-Fi drops so…..?

Similar I’ve only had the system 3.5 days and since I was actually “armed,” last night I know the door bell camera has missed activity and I’m concerned that the others missed activity last night.
