Outdoor Camera no longer picking up motion

Hi - my outdoor stoped picking up motion when I updated the Wi-Fi network. The camera is 6 feet off the ground over the garage and it will not pick up a car pulling into the drive way and then right under the camera.

it also does not pick anyone up walking around.

The only change I made from when it worked was the Wi-Fi network, and it worked well until then.

Hi @frankm,

Sorry to hear about your camera issue. Did you switch your Outdoor Camera to the new WiFi network before you took down the old network? It wouldn't switch automatically, you'd have to configure it in the SimpliSafe app.

Also, you would want to switch WiFi on the Base Station and the Outdoor Camera separately - switching on the Base Station won't do it for both.

What you can do next is reset the Outdoor Camera by pressing the pairing button in the back for 16 seconds. When you release, it should reboot, and then enter setup mode. You can then set it up like a new camera in the SimpliSafe app - including setting the new WiFi network.

@davey_d thank you!

turns out, I had the privacy shutter set to close in off and that was keeping it from picking up movement.

Once I switched that, it went back to working great.

What do you mean “shutter set to close in off?” I’m having the same issue and am trying to solve it. Thank you.

@lukebrown46 they might have actually been talking about an Indoor Camera. The Wireless Outdoor Camera doesn't have a shutter.

But you mention seeing similar symptoms - i.e. the camera is no longer activating after you changed your WiFi network? You could try the reset instructions that I have above, and that might help.
