Bug - Camera switches between night/day modes, even when the shutter is closed, causes clicking

At night, every time the light changes in the room (i.e tv lights the room up) the camera switches from night mode to day mode (the red light comes on/off) or vice-versa. This happens even when the shutter is closed so is redundant. It can be pretty annoying to hear it click each time.

Hi werwulf,

I did reply in the other thread where you discussed this with other users. Yes, the camera does switch between night and day modes automatically (just based on the light level of the room), and this does produce an audible click. It doesn't start a recording, but it is getting ready for if it ever needs to record. So this behavior is intentional.

@davey_d Hi there. Why does it need to do this when the shutter is closed though? Why can't it set the right mode at the moment the shutter opens?

The light sensor adjusts to night vision based on light levels, in real time. That way, during an actual trigger for a recording, the camera doesn't have to wait for the switch-over before starting.

Incorrect! It does record. It shows up on my timeline and I can view it. My cleaning people do not appreciate nor do I. Get it fixed or tell us how to fix it!

No, the switch to Night Vision does not initiate a recording. However, there might be some other event that is triggering the recording - for example, if the system was recently disarmed, or if the privacy shutter was configured to be opened (meaning it is set to record whenever there is motion).

@davey_d how can it take non-trivial amounts of time to switch between day and night mode?

The blocking mechanical shutter needs to move anyway, and surely switching between day and night mode cameras is about the same delay as the shutter opening?

Isn't this due to the camera losing connection, and reconnecting? i've noticed the click as well when shutter is closed, look at camera, and the white light is on.

@vstam390 This particular behavior with the Indoor Camera is just when it switches from the 'daytime' to the 'night vision' modes. It's possible that you'd hear the click as well if the unit has to reboot or reconnect, because it would go back into the default (daytime) mode.

This behavior is incredibly annoying and distracting. I recently got a new tv and it’s causing the camera to “click” as it switches between modes which can happen frequency. I really wish there could at least be an option to have it “auto with shutter open” or “auto if alarm armed”.

@peter5897 not just between "modes", but also when a movie goes from day to night, or night to day.

@thomas_XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX4 Ah yeah by "modes" I meant the camera switching night vision on and off. I've been watching a lot of Ozark and the security camera goes crazy when there are day/night or even inside/outside scene switches.
