What is a Cross Zone Jurisdiction for Monitoring Permits?

Updated

Some customers may have permitting requirements for the municipality or jurisdiction they reside in where an alarm must be triggered from two separate sensors before SimpliSafe® requests dispatch of emergency authorities to your home or business. This is referred to as “Cross Zones”, where the alarm is triggered across “multiple zones” or multiple sensors within your home.

More specifically, these jurisdictions require a trigger from two separate sensors. One from the initial alarm event, and a second one from a different sensor within your home or business. This is to counteract false alarms caused by potentially malfunctioning sensors.

Often, this requirement only applies to sensor triggers. If you have cameras with Video Verification enabled (which sends camera footage to the monitoring center so a professional monitoring agent can review it), that would be a separate type of alarm.
