The SimpliSafe® Web App will advise you if you need to apply for a permit with your local municipality. If the Web App advises you need a permit, there are 2 key steps you’ll need to take. 

1. First, you’ll need to work with your local municipality to obtain a permit, and if required, you’ll pay the registration fee to your municipality.

2. Next, you’ll need to register your permit information with SimpliSafe®, so that we have it should an alarm occur at the location of your system.

If your municipality requires you to apply for a permit, you’ll need to contact your municipality for further assistance. Please note that different towns and cities refer to alarm permits as different names. Below is a short list of some of the most common names:

If the form is requesting other information, here are the answers to a few commonly asked questions on your permit application: 

Type of alarm: Burglary, panic, audible, silent. Please also select “Fire” if you have a SimpliSafe Smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide Detector

Does the alarm reset itself?: Yes

What is the reset time?: This defaults to 4 minutes but is configurable in your Base Station settings. You can set the reset time from 30 seconds to 8 minutes. Please check on your permit application or your local ordinance to verify what your municipality allows.
